Losing weight is more about bringing a change in a person's lifestyle than it is about frequent exercise. Here are some simple tips that are guaranteed to work, though they must be followed consistently for at least three months to show a positive result:
- Incorporate good food in the diet. This goes without saying, but if a person wants to lose weight, perhaps the first step is checking out their diet plan. Most people who put on weight simply do so because they consume more calories than they expend. Hence, these calories are stored as fat in the body. Rather than blatantly banning all fried or processed items from the diet, it would be a wiser idea to slowly introduce healthy vegetables and foods such as oatmeal in the diet.
- Start exercising, slowly. The common number of people who are generally overweight are the ones who do not exercise at all. Given the nature of jobs that most people hold, their bodies get to spend very little calories throughout the day. Hence, exercise is all but non- existent from the lives of people who are overweight. Trying to exercise for an hour everyday will get a person nowhere at this stage. Instead, it is wise to start with a schedule one can manage easily, such as 20 minutes of exercise daily. It is easy to build from there.
- Talk a walk. A lot of people don't talk about it, but one of the most effective ways to lose weight, and then keep it off is through a simple walk. While taking a simple walk has more benefits than just weight loss, it is essentially working the body, and hence helps reduce weight. Moreover, it is not as physically strenuous as compared to heavy exercise, so it is easy to incorporate in the daily schedule.
- Drink lots of water, especially before eating. When a person drinks water before they sit down to eat, their mind is effectively tricked in to thinking that they are already quite full. As a result, the person doesn't eat as much. Also, keeping the body hydrated also helps in quicker fat burn, which leads to a much quicker loss of weight.
